The preview works, but the published app does not

Base44 troubleshooting & app recovery
If your Base44 application has a frustrating error, a feature that will not finish, or a published version that behaves differently from the editor, you may not need to rebuild from scratch. Function Labs helps investigate the cause, restore reliable workflows and plan safe, tested fixes.
Unexpected deployment behaviour, stale published versions, missing settings or changes that do not appear on the live site.
Authentication errors, access controls, row-level security, missing records or users seeing the wrong information. Security comes first: we do not solve this by broadly opening access.
Broken webhook flows, missing configuration, third-party API issues, payment events and notification failures that need careful end-to-end checking.
A workflow may work in isolation but break elsewhere. We map dependencies, reproduce issues and retest the app as a connected system.
Unnecessary requests, large queries, repeated rendering and loading sequences can all affect responsiveness. We trace measurable bottlenecks.
Functional QA, security observations, user journeys and a clear prioritised list of outstanding fixes before customers rely on the product.
These are practical things to check before making major changes. They also help us assess your app more efficiently if you get in touch.
Write down the page, user role, steps taken, expected result and actual result. Avoid changing several things at once before you know the cause.
Confirm which version was deployed, whether the relevant configuration exists in production and whether a fresh session has the same issue.
Check whether only admins can complete a workflow. Compare authentication and authorisation without exposing records or weakening row-level security rules.
Use the available browser console, application logs and backend function diagnostics. Record error text while removing tokens, personal information and other secrets.
For payment, email or API problems, verify configuration, test/production environments, delivery logs, and how errors or retries are handled.
Run the relevant end-to-end route as a normal user, then verify related flows to catch regressions. Record what was tested and what remains uncertain.
Never publish secrets, access tokens, API keys or personal customer records in a support request. You can describe the issue without inviting us into your project; access can be agreed later if needed.
Yes. An independent Base44 developer can review an existing app, reproduce its issues and implement changes with your permission. Function Labs can take on smaller fixes as well as larger recovery work.
Not necessarily. Many faults are isolated to a workflow, permission rule or integration. We recommend a focused investigation before proposing major reconstruction.
It depends on how reliably the issue can be reproduced and what must change. Function Labs offers a comprehensive written app review at £295 and separately quotes fixes and development before paid work begins.
We cannot guarantee a fix before investigating the cause, especially when a third-party platform or service controls the underlying issue. We will explain the findings, options and trade-offs clearly.
Describe what you are trying to do, what is going wrong and whether the app is already live. An initial conversation is free; no passwords or app access are needed to enquire.
We use optional first-party analytics to understand which pages are useful. Analytics is off by default, and we do not deliberately send names, email addresses, telephone numbers or message content in analytics events. You can change this anytime in Cookie Settings.
